Vision to Reality: Behind the Scenes with BWC Construction
When you step inside the former Butler Chevrolet building in downtown Leesburg, you can almost hear the echoes of its past—salesmen and mechanics once filled the space, which now hums with the promise of transformation. It's here, amid century-old brick and steel, that the RoMac Media Team sat down with Bryan W. Caracciolo, General Contractor and President of BWC Construction, for the latest installment of our Builders Spotlight series.
“This building is super strong,” Caracciolo said, gesturing around what will soon be the Butler Lofts. “It was actually a car dealership in the 20s... built in 1925, so it’s 100 years this year.”

That’s fitting, because BWC Construction has made a name for itself by honoring the past while building for the future. Based in Ocala, Florida, and working on projects across the state, the company has evolved rapidly since its founding in 2013. “We literally started the company with $0 and kind of organically grew it from there,” Caracciolo shared. “Before BWC, there were multi-generations of construction companies, all the way back to my grandfather.”
From humble beginnings doing soffits and fascia work for other contractors, BWC has grown into a powerhouse with a focus on commercial, industrial, multifamily, and investment housing. “Our company today is probably 90% commercial, industrial, multifamily. Out of that, at least 50% plus is our own development projects that we own ourselves now,” he said. “We probably have over 50 houses going right now that are all investment houses as well.”
Their growth has not gone unnoticed. BWC made the Inc. 5000 list last year, recognized as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the country.

However, perhaps the most compelling part of BWC’s story is its commitment to reviving Florida’s architectural history. Caracciolo’s passion for adaptive reuse projects—like the Butler Lofts—is deeply rooted. “I’ve always been interested in historic buildings,” he said. “People don’t want to touch these big things because they can turn into a beast... but I think as a developer, it’s also our responsibility to try to save these buildings.”

That responsibility isn't taken lightly. As Caracciolo noted, “We’ve had many members from the historical museum to just people coming in—family members of people that worked here. Seeing it being saved and rehabbed to come back to life, it’s something special to them.”
It’s also personal for him. “I love seeing an end result. I love being able to come into a building that’s just on paper, and then being able to walk into that project when it’s done, especially something that sat there empty, that everyone thought we were crazy for even attempting.”
It’s not always easy. “There’s a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and everything else in between,” he admitted. “But the finish line is really what makes it exciting and makes it where we love what we do.”
And through it all, RoMac has been there. “RoMac’s actually been one of our very first vendors that ever allowed us to really grow the way we have,” Caracciolo said. “We stick to RoMac. We don’t use anybody else when it comes to our lumber needs.”

From reimagining Florida’s historic buildings to developing multifamily communities and housing investments, BWC Construction is a builder with a bold vision—and the drive to bring it to life.
