Every business has a story, but not every story goes 80 rounds.
In this latest video feature, we take a step into the ring—not with gloves, but with grit. “Eighty Rounds” is more than a look back at RoMac Building Supply’s history. It’s a reflection of what it takes to not only stay in business for eight decades, but to keep getting back up, year after year, challenge after challenge.
Our CEO, Don Magruder, lends his voice to this piece. With over 28 years at the helm of RoMac, Don has had a front-row seat to some of our most defining moments. But this story goes well beyond any one person—it’s about a team, a company, and a community that has weathered it all.

A Legacy Forged in Fire (and Everything Else)
RoMac’s story began in the shadow of World War II, when Buck Robuck returned home and decided to build something for the future—literally. With a strong work ethic and a vision for serving Central Florida’s growing construction needs, Buck and his team opened a small lumber yard.
They didn’t get far before their first battle: competition from the MacDonald family’s yard down the street. Rather than fold, RoMac bought them out. It was just the beginning of a long tradition of meeting adversity head-on.
In 1972, a devastating fire tore through the Leesburg location, leaving much of the facility in ashes. And yet—RoMac rebuilt. Over the following decades, freezes, recessions, building booms, and corporate giants would each pose a new test. And still, RoMac stayed in the fight.

A Company That Doesn't Quit
“Eighty Rounds” plays with the idea that business is like boxing—every year is another round. That couldn’t be more true for RoMac. Each chapter of our story has come with its own fight, whether it was economic downturns or the fierce competition of big-box chains.
What’s kept us in the match? A culture rooted in persistence, service, and local loyalty. RoMac has never been about just selling building materials—it’s about building relationships, supporting local contractors, and investing in the communities we serve.

Capturing the Spirit Behind the Scenes
Filming this video with RoMac’s in-house media team gave us a chance to not only document our history, but to feel it. Between takes, stories surfaced—some that didn’t even make it into the final cut. Like the times employees worked overnight to reopen after storms. Or when longtime team members helped onboard the next generation.
This was more than a video shoot. It was a reminder of who we are.

Here’s to Round 81
Today, RoMac Building Supply is stronger than ever. We’ve grown into a multi-location operation with specialties ranging from lumber and windows to insulation and trusses. But we haven’t forgotten our roots. We still serve the same Central Florida region. We still believe in local service. And we’re still ready for whatever comes next.
So go ahead—ring the bell.
