Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

About the Job

The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs across warehouse, yard, and delivery operations. This role supports regulatory compliance, employee safety, incident prevention, training, and continuous improvement of workplace safety practices.

Responsibilites

  • Develop, implement, and monitor environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements

  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments

  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions

  • Deliver safety training, including forklift safety, hazard communication, and PPE

  • Maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation

  • Support environmental initiatives, including waste management and spill prevention

  • Partner with leadership and operations teams to improve safety performance

  • Monitor workers' compensation claims and assist with return-to-work programs

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of EHS experience required; manufacturing, construction, or building materials experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards

  • Warehouse, yard operations, or fleet safety experience preferred

  • Excellent communication, training, and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Google Suite

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification preferred

  • First Aid/CPR Certification preferred

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods

  • Ability to work in office, warehouse, and outdoor yard environments
